Son Monarcas is a Chicago-based Latin fusion ensemble led by Irekani Ferreyra & Mercedes Inez Martinez. They blend the traditional with the contemporary by creating original arrangements of "son" while retaining the foundation of the traditional style.
Irekani Ferreyra is leading figure in Chicago's vibrant son jarocho music scene, steeped in Mexico's traditional music. His talent as an instrumentalist in these styles allow him to move easily between jarana, violin, harp, guitarra de son, and guitar.
Mercedes Inez Martinez is a multi-media artist from El Paso,Texas. working within the forms of visual art, music and theater. She is also a free-lance musician and jazz singer.
Son Monarcas' original compositions include influences cumbia, samba, jazz and experimental music in English and Spanish. Son Monarcas takes you on a musical migration, like that of the Monarch Butterfly, from the United States to far corners of Mexico and South America.

AMADA was founded by Chicago-based Brazilian drummer and percussionist Luiz Ewerling. It divines a unique blending of Brazilian and American musical styles, ranging from Brazilian Pop to Rock, from Samba to Swing, from the free flowing pulse of the Partido Alto to contemporary jazz.
With Ana Munteanu’s soulful, sparkling vocals, Luciano Antonio’s brilliant guitar artistry and warm voice, Geoffrey Lowe and Luiz Ewerling’s sonorous bass and eclectic rhythms, AMADA is about groove, harmony and music euphoria that moves one’s heart.

Claudia La Gitana was born in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. A singer of multiple cultures and styles, she brightens every stage with her colorful Gypsy style and vibrant personality. This palmireña is an international artist who has performed with Swing and Sugar, Mangrove, La Nueva Sonora Matancera and others.
In addition to performing as a solo artist, she is also the lead singer of Azúcar - A Celia Cruz Tribute Project.
Her teachers and mentors include the great Alfredito Linares, Felix Suarez 'Shakaito' and Nino Caicedo. She is the winner of the 2012 Colombian National Bolero Competition 'Alberto Villa Velez'.

Duo Violão Brasil is the result of guitarists Rogério Souza and Edinho Gerber's reverence for Brazilian guitar, the “violão”, and their desire to explore and expand the musical possibilities of putting two “violões" together.
With repertoire from composers like Pixinguinha, Baden Powell, and Tom Jobim, the duo navigates effortlessly through the many styles of 20th century Brazilian popular music while showcasing original works and inventive arrangements.

Singer Patricia Nuñez “La Tiranta” was born in Córdoba, Spain in 1987. Patricia inherited her passion for singing from her musical family background, particularly her mother. From an early age she started working with different musicians and artists from her city such as Angelin de Puente Genil, Rafael Trenas Jr., Álvaro Vizcaíno, Xavier de la Torre and others. Later on, she moved to Granada to study musical production and start her career in flamenco music.
La Tiranta has also taken part in the Ensemble Español tours in the Midwest and East coast of the U.S. In 2016, she opened the Chicago Flamenco Festival at the Instituto Cervantes singing for Raquel Heredia “La Repompilla”.
La Tiranta sings regularly at different venues throughout the Chicagoland area and Midwest. She is also part of the project, “Ruta De Los Bandoleros” in Alameda, Malaga. She has performed with Paco Fonta, Pol Vaquero, Carmela Greco ,Raquel Heredia, and family, among others.

Founded in 2001, Conjunto is violinist James Sanders’ long running project to unite his classical training and Dominican heritage with the freedom of jazz improvisation, all grounded in Afro-Cuban rhythms: rumba, son, danzón and more.
In Conjunto, jazz freedom, intricate instrumental virtuosity and propulsive dance rhythms find equal footing in a cohesive whole, making music for mind, body, and soul. They have performed at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Andy’s Jazz Club, the Jazz Showcase, the Chicago Latin Jazz Festival, the Velvet Lounge, the Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival, Katerina’s, Chicago SummerDance and many more. In 2010, Conjunto headlined at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion for the ‘Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz’ series before an audience of nearly 10,000 people.
